Airbus: Historic Strike in Spain!

Temps de lecture estimé : 3 minutes

Wages, teleworking, social rights: our Spanish colleagues are mobilizing massively. What about us?

Massive Mobilizations Across All Spanish Sites

Since July 1, 2026, Airbus employees in Spain have been on a massive strike. This movement, originating from the grassroots with the support of certain trade unions, now brings together more than 6,000 employees out of 15,000. All Airbus Spain sites are affected by the strike. It is a united movement where office and shop-floor workers alike are mobilizing, because the loss of rights affects everyone, and everyone is responding together.

Their Demands

Our Spanish colleagues are denouncing a significant loss of purchasing power in recent years and numerous social rollbacks imposed by management.

As a result, they are putting forward the following demands:

  • +18% wage increase
  • Maintaining telework at 2 days per week
  • Freedom to choose summer leave according to personal family constraints
  • Maintaining the free cafeteria
  • Maintaining the transport routes funded by Airbus
  • Full payment for sick leave
  • Payment for strike days

Every day, they meet in general assemblies across the various sites to decide on the next steps of the mobilization.

Last week, management proposed a preliminary agreement including, among other things, a +12% increase over two years and the retention of the two telework days. In response to these proposals, the strikers voted overwhelmingly to refuse the signing of this agreement and decided to resume an indefinite strike starting August 24, after their holidays.

What About Us at Airbus in France?

Group management applies its policy country by country, site by site. Under the guise of « social dialogue » with partner unions, it consists of sidelining employees from the decisions that concern them, the better to impose social rollbacks on them.

In France, as in Spain (and across all other Airbus sites worldwide), our purchasing power and working conditions are deteriorating. But for Mr. Guillaume Faury, this is still not enough. Airbus’s Chief Financial Officer (Mr. Thomas Toepfer) announced on the sidelines of Farnborough that « thanks to the strength of our financial trajectory, we believe now is the right time to accelerate returns to shareholders » with « profitability that will jump by 70% to 85% by 2030. » This will inevitably happen by increasing the pressure on employees.

In France, as in Spain, it is through collective mobilization that we can stop social rollbacks, win wage increases, and advance our rights.

Our Spanish colleagues are proving that it is possible to break out of this imposed framework of « social dialogue » and that progress can be achieved by mobilizing through strikes.

Starting in September, let’s be ready to mobilize too!
